The Rabelo do Douro boat is a traditional Portuguese vessel used to transport goods between the Douro and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most important symbols in Douro's history, having been used since the sixteenth century for the transport of wine, olive oil, fruits, cereals and other goods. Even today it is used to perform sightseeing tours along the river.
